Why are you building another pride event in Southampton?

The answer to that is simple, like many large cities, Southampton is clearly big enough for 2 events to live in peace, side by side. We are not looking to take over from Southampton Pride and we are also not looking to do the same things as them either, in actual fact our event plans on being very very different to theirs. We are planning an addtional yet complementary event that will provide the following: At our event Over 90% of activities on site will be free to all Our event is full of an array of artists, local musicians, speakers, poets, & much more Our event has traders, who will be charging a maximum of £10 on high end items, although most will be much lower Our event will be non-commercially funded and community led, which simply means anyone can get involved in the organisaition and have a say in how it is run! At Our event you can bring your own food and drink onto site Our event you can buy a pint at pub prices Our event will have gender neutral toilets Our event aims to be 100% accessible to all And much more besides As you can see, we are a totally different setup to Southnampton Pride and many other pride events across the country, so we believe as do our supporters that we can both run separately, but in the same City. We are no means anti any pride event, we are just loking to include everyone! There are many other cities that also have separate pride events across the UK and the World, we are not new to this idea.

Pride Event 2022

I am sensitive to loud music and sounds, what do you have in place?

I do not like enclosed or cramped spaces, how can you help?

Can I bring my own alcohol onto site?

No, we are sorry but due to the fact that we have a licence to sell alcohol on-site, you will not be allowed to bring alcohol into the site. However we are pleased to let you know that our beer tent is supplied to us by The Angel Inn, Southampton. The Angel Inn Southampton, is a very reasonably priced bar and the prices on-site will be the same as what you would expect to pay in The Angel Inn itself, thus will be cheaper than any event that you have been to.

We do ask however that you do not become a nuisance or get drunk to excess as you will be asked to leave. We also ask that you do not allow under 18's to consume the alcohol that you have purchased or try and purchase it for them.

I have specific dietary requirements, can I bring my own food onto site?

Yes, we do not feel it is fair or right to stop you from bringing your own food and drink to a public event. Yes that is correct, we can also go further and give you a list. The following is FREE to all: 1. Quiet Area 2. Artists 3. Workshops and Speakers 4. Entry to the event 5. Kid's Bouncy Castle 6. Toilets 7. Arts & Craft Tent 8. Kid's Area 9. Teens Area

What are the prices of the stall holders?

We are pleased you asked, we have worked very hard on providing stall holders whom charge pocket money prices upto a maximum price point of around £10.00 per item. We were fed up of going to events and getting ripped off, so we acted on it. Who has money to pay £6 on a hotdog or £10 on a pint that's warm? Yeah so even our beer tent that will be on-site will be at pub prices, but also cold! Okay so what about the adult bouncy castle and so on? Again we have worked hard with the suppliers to get maximum bang for your buck, so do not expect stupid prices with the exception of how low they will be. Trust us you will be shocked, we are!

Equipment Hire

Who can use your equipment hire service?

This service is for any community or voluntary group based in Southampton and the surrounding areas, but we give priority to groups in the Southampton Area. Private individuals and businesses can’t hire our equipment. It’s a way for community groups to share resources, rather than each group having to buy and store large or expensive items. We aim to provide useful, practical resources that are well-maintained. If you have any problems with our equipment, or suggestions for how we could improve the service, please let us know. Our hire charges are very low, because we are a not-for-profit charity. We provide instructions and training on how to use the equipment, but you need to make your own arrangements for transporting, setting up, safely using and storing the equipment while you have it on hire. Please help us to keep the service running smoothly by making sure you bring equipment back on time.

How do we book equipment from you?

Groups in Southampton and the surrounding areas can book up to six months in advance. Advance booking is essential for Christmas and summer events. Check our full range of equipment online by clicking here. Decide which items you’d like to hire – NB there are limits on the number of items each group can hire in some categories. Think about when you can arrange transport to collect equipment from us and return it to us after your event. Please note, we are closed on Wednesdays until June 2021. Contact us to check if the items you want are available on the dates you want. You can fill in a booking request form on our website or phone or e-mail the us. We’ll check the availability and make the booking. If you fill in a booking request form or email us, we will always get back to you to confirm the booking. Don’t assume you have booked the equipment until you hear from us. If you want to cancel or change anything about your booking, please let us know.

How much is the deposit and when do you require it?

When you collect your equipment, you need to leave a deposit of £50-£100.00 depending on the item hired. This can be paid by cash, or credit/debit card and proof of address. We will return your deposit once you have returned the equipment and we have checked it.

When can we collect the equipment?

You will need to pick up your equipment between 1pm and 4pm, unless you have specifically arranged with us to collect it in the morning. Please allow time to fill in our hire form, and for the person to show you how to use the equipment. Bring your deposit with you. There is a loading bay which you can park in to collect and return equipment. There are also 2 disabled bays available. The location of collection & return is in Southampton City Centre close to the Royal South Hants Hospital.

When can we return the equipment?

Please return equipment on time and in good condition. You will usually be asked to bring it back between 9am and 12noon so that another group may borrow it the same day.

Is your equipment insured?

No. Our insurance does not cover the transport or use of our equipment when it is outside the building. You will be asked to sign a hire agreement when you collect the equipment, accepting full responsibility for the equipment on behalf of your group. If the equipment is lost, stolen or damaged when it is in your care, we will charge your group for the cost of replacement or repair. The hire of our equipment does not include public liability insurance. Your group is responsible for arranging that where necessary. For more information about safety, liability and our equipment, see our Equipment Hire Policy and Procedures Document.

Can you provide risk assements for your equipment?

We can provide sample risk assessments for you to be able to complete your own risk assessments, as these should be specific to your event and organisation.

What percentage of donations go to the charities charitiable objects?

3. Internet for the office and other related office bills 4. Telephone Bills So I guess you could say as all the above is being used for chartiable purposes and that we spend 100% of all donations on the charity in one way of another. We are keen to point out that all of our staff are volunteers and no one is paid a wage whatsoever.
